PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy VIII Euergetes II (Physcon), second reign, 145-116 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 14.24 g, 12 h), Salamis, RY 29 = 142/1. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around neck. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΠTOΛEMAIOY / L KΘ - ΣΑ Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt. Noeske 263. SNG Copenhagen 573. Svoronos 1536. A lovely piece of fine style. The reverse somewhat weak, otherwise, good very fine.
